This project, inspired by my Korean heritage and my grandfather’s wartime experiences, explores Cheorwon’s journey from devastation to renewal. Using Blender, I created a virtual museum blending art and technology. Thousands of vibrant, data-driven dots represent lives and historical events, reflecting the region’s scars and resilience. The digital museum invites visitors to walk through Cheorwon’s layered history, from war’s destruction and reconstructing destroyed urban areas to ecological recovery, fostering reflection and healing. It honors my grandfather’s legacy and the countless lives shaped by the Korean War, while envisioning a future built on remembrance and renewal.

This project explores the complex nature of walls as dividers, protectors, and connectors. I designed a conceptual wall for the Korean embassy in Shanghai to symbolize the shared history and the evolving relationship between Korea and China. Divided into three layers, the wall tells a story of culture, conflict, and collaboration. The inner layer honors ancient cultural exchanges, representing deep connections through art and tradition. The middle layer confronts the Korean War, reflecting on division and shared history. The outer layer looks to the future, showcasing progress through diplomacy and partnership. This layered design transforms a boundary into a story of unity.

This project examines the dual realities of global peacekeeping, represented through the image of an iceberg. The visible tip symbolizes the United Nations’ idealized image, a peacekeeping tent that promises justice and protection. Beneath the surface lies the hidden underbelly: a haunting image of a falling body surrounded by hands that represents violence, complicity, and silenced victims. By exposing what lies below, this installation challenges viewers to confront uncomfortable truths and reimagine global systems centered on uplifting the vulnerable population.

This artwork uses a traditional Korean pond to create dual reflections, highlighting the impact of spaces in urban areas on society and political interactions. The upper reflection portrays an open, dynamic embassy, thoughtfully designed with cultural elements that symbolize soft power and openness. In contrast, the lower reflection is plain and rigid, representing a closed, inaccessible embassy that undermines diplomacy and public perception. This contrast prompts viewers to consider how the architectural choices and elements embedded in an embassy’s design can shape relationships and influence how the public perceives its role in fostering cultural exchange and diplomacy.

The Nexus Pavilion is a transparent, walk-through structure that represents diplomacy and connection. Its flowing design reflects the fluidity of relationships, while its transparency symbolizes openness and trust. Sensors inside trigger beams of light that respond to visitors’ movements, mimicking the give-and-take of conversations. As more people interact, the lights become brighter and more complex, symbolizing collaboration and negotiation. During the day, sunlight creates shifting shadows, showing diplomacy’s ever-changing nature. At night, the pavilion glows and projects rippling light onto its surroundings, representing the ripple effects of connection.
